phyA decline without violation of the phy/phy equilibrium in epicotyls of the “de-etiolated” (lip) mutant of pea in the dark. The lip mutant (light-independent photomorphogenesis, lip) is deficient in negative regulators of photomorphogenesis resulting in “photomorphogenic” pattern of development in darkness.
