Genetically Modified Foods and Products
Call for Papers
Genetic engineering has been used to increase production by targeting production straits and improving nutrition and to reduce losses by, for example, developing pest resistant varieties of plants. However, genetic modification for food has elicited intense discussion in the last few years among health professionals, consumers, civil society groups, and other biotech stakeholders.
As agrarian systems change and adoption of genetically modified foods and products gain a worldwide trend, issues of human health and environmental safety, risk analysis, and commercialization require a focused discussion by stakeholders to address consumer and environmental concerns while advising on systems that assure food security.
We invite researchers to contribute both original research and review articles with the intent of stimulating further investigations and discussions on genetically modified foods and products. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:
- Ethical issues of genetic modifications
- The role of biotechnology and GM in food security
- Scientific basis of safety in genetically modified foods
- Safety concerns regarding genetically modified foods and products
- Public perceptions on GM foods and products
- Management of GM technology
- GMO detection
- Labeling of GM foods and products
- Challenges in the commercialization of GM crops
- Genetic pollution threats and management
Before submission authors should carefully read over the journal's Author Guidelines, which are located at http://www.hindawi.com/journals/jbb/guidelines/.
