The antiproliferative activity of drugs (2–4 and the standard antitumor drug, cisplatin) was evaluated using the clonogenic assay against (a) human MDA-231 breast cancer cell line, (b) human MCF-7 breast cancer cell line, and (c) human K562 leukemia cell line. The surviving fraction was calculated as number of colonies after treatment/[number of seeded cells (200 cells) × plating efficiency (PE)], where PE = number of colonies/[number of seeded cells (200 cells) × 100%].
