The Application of Advanced Materials on the Water or Wastewater Treatment
Description
Water scarcity is being recognized as a present and future threat to human activity, and as a consequence, water purification technologies are gaining major worldwide attention. Advanced materials have many properties, such as strong adsorption, enhanced redox, and photocatalytic properties, providing unprecedented opportunities to treat contaminants in water. The advanced materials are used in treatment of surface water, groundwater, and industrial wastewater that are contaminated by toxic metals, organic and inorganic compounds, bacteria, and viruses. But how about the environment security, reuse of treatment agents, low cost, high treatment efficiency, and the main problem of the large-scale application? We still need a more comprehensive elaboration. This special issue aims to provide an up-to-date account of advancement in these areas as well as insights gained through field experience.
Therefore, we are calling for original research articles as well as review articles which report the up-to-date progresses on the application of advanced materials on the water or wastewater treatment. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:
- Advanced materials and advanced composite materials applications on water treatment
- Advanced materials and advanced composite materials applications on industry wastewater treatment
- Advanced materials and advanced composite materials applications on resource reuse of noble metals (such as gold and silver) from industry wastewater
- Advanced materials and advanced composite materials applications on environmental analysis
- Advanced materials and advanced composite materials applications on groundwater remediation
- Toxic potential of engineered advanced materials and advanced composite materials
- Transformations of advanced materials advanced composite materials in the environment
- Modifications of advanced materials or advanced composite materials for enhancing contaminant uptakes from aqueous solutions
