Live Video Services

Call for Papers

Significant developments in communication and computation technologies have made video services feasible. However, new emerging applications have put further stress on the existing resources. In recent years, several methods have been discussed for providing commercial video services. All methods, however, cannot provide live video services because of their inherent architectures. Live video services are essential to several applications such as live broadcasts of sport events, distance education lectures, and speeches and panel discussions at conventions, conferences, and social gatherings. These applications require a considerable amount of bandwidth and storage. Relatively few works on live video services are available in the literature. In order to further focus on live video services, we invite authors to submit original research and review articles regarding live video services and their future perspectives. We are particularly interested in papers describing new protocols related to live video and their analysis. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Seamless live video broadcasting/multicasting protocols
  • Seamless IP-based live video broadcasting/multicasting protocols
  • VCR functionality-based protocols
  • Bandwidth smoothing
  • QoS provisioning for live video services
  • Security issues of live video services
  • Heterogeneity issues in live video systems
  • Live video streaming using mobile devices
  • Signaling and control of live streaming sessions
  • User fairness and capacity in video-streaming networks
  • Frontier of video streaming and its limitation

Before submission authors should carefully read over the journal's Author Guidelines, which are located at http://www.hindawi.com/journals/jcnc/guidelines/. Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscript through the journal Manuscript Tracking System at http://mts.hindawi.com/ according to the following timetable:
