STZ- or high glucose-injected embryos have elevated plasma glucose levels without changes in body weights. (a) At E12, embryos were injected with either STZ (300, 275, or 250), high glucose (3,000 or 2,500) mg per kg of egg weight (mg/kg), or vehicle (control). All STZ- and high glucose- injected embryos at E18 had significantly higher plasma glucose levels compared to the control (CON).
