Hypoxia Alters the Expression of Dipeptidyl Peptidase 4 and Induces Developmental Remodeling of Human Preadipocytes

Expression of HIF-1α, a hypoxia marker, in human preadipocytes cultured in vitro. Confocal images and transmission light images (insets) of human preadipocytes immunolabeled with antibody against HIF-1α. Preadipocytes were cultured for 2 days in normoxic conditions (a, 18% O2) or hypoxic conditions (b, 1% O2). Cells were fixed and immunolabeled with an antibody against HIF-1α. Inserts show transmission light microscopy images of the same cells as in the confocal fluorescent images. Scale bars indicate 20 μm.
