Recent Advances in Restoration and Noise Detection for Digital Image and Video Processing

Call for Papers

Noise reduction algorithms are common in electrical and computer engineering society. These algorithms are very useful for restoring and improving the quality of digital image and video. Noise reduction algorithms are widely used as the preprocessing stage for automated system. The research regarding noise reduction algorithms is still one of the intense research areas nowadays. Most of the recent researches aim at producing better algorithms in terms of the effectiveness in detecting and removing noise. Yet, simple algorithms are preferable, so that it can be used in real-time or near-real-time systems.

We invite researchers to contribute original research articles that contribute toward the advancement of the research in this area. The special issue is not only limited to researches in spatial domain and temporal domain, but also to other transformed domains, including Fourier spectra and wavelets. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Noise characterization and modelling
  • Reviews on current restoration and noise detection techniques
  • Reviews on current restoration and noise detection techniques
  • Segmentation methods for highly corrupted image/video
  • Anisotropic diffusion
  • Switching-based processing
  • Adaptive-based processing
  • Recursive-based processing
  • Replacement algorithm for noise cancellation
  • Image and video quality assessment for researches regarding the noise reduction
