Theoretical Models, Algorithms, and Architectures for Next-Generation Networks

Call for Papers

Next-Generation Networks (NGNs) are now becoming a popular means of transport for all services and applications. Moreover, telecoms have started to migrate or, in many instances, evolve from traditional networks to high performance, profitable, and architecturally evolved networks. The migration towards NGNs alters the network topology and, thus, involves several structural changes such as a reorganization of core networks and their hierarchical levels. This will, actually, have an impact on the theoretical models and algorithms for the networks. This special issue is an opportunity for researchers, industry practitioners, and implementers to share their insight and knowledge in all areas related to NGNs and services.

This special issue addresses challenges of design, deployment, delivery, and management of services and applications over different platforms and diverse networks from both technical and theoretical perspectives. Original papers on recent advances in theoretical models, algorithms, and architectures for NGNs are invited. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Next-generation network architectures
  • Vehicular ad hoc networks (VANET)
  • Social networking
  • Ad hoc networks
  • Opportunistic networks and DTNs
  • Topology and modelling for next-generation networks
  • Routing algorithms for next-generation networks
  • Information dissemination models in next-generation networks
  • Intrusion detection for next-generation networks
  • Interplay between NGN architectures and modern networking models such as cloud computing
  • Other related topics
