Using CO2 to Determine Inhaled Contaminant Volumes and Blower Effectiveness in Several Types of Respirators

Diagram of the experimental apparatus used. The respirator under test was mounted on a head form inside a large chamber. A breathing machine was used with CO₂ gas to detect leaks. Exhaled air was collected, and CO₂ concentration was measured and compared to CO₂ concentration in the chamber.
