Geometry of Banach Spaces, Operator Theory, and Their Applications
Call for Papers
The development of functional analysis is based on the powerful influences of theoretical physics and other sciences. There were many pioneering mathematicians who established the fundamental framework in this research direction. In recent years, a large number of research articles have been published in this area, and many major discoveries have been obtained. At the present time, the ideas, terminology, and methods of functional analysis have penetrated deeply not only into natural sciences, but also into applied disciplines as economics, finance, risk management, and life science. Many real world problems were analyzed and solved by using the ideas and results of function analysis.
This special issue will focus on important developments in the geometric theories, linear and nonlinear operators, and their applications. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:
- Geometric parameters and constants in Banach spaces
- Normal structure, nonexpansive operators, and iterative methods
- Isometric mappings
- Fixed point theory in metric spaces, set value mappings, and common fixed points
- Equalities, inequalities, and the geometry of Banach spaces
- Convexity, smoothness, and differentiability of norms
- Modulus of convexity and modulus of smoothness
- “Ultra”-techniques
- Radon-Nikodym properties and vector measures
- Bases of Banach spaces
- Properties of Orlicz spaces, Minkowski geometry, and others
- The spectrum and resolvent of a linear operator
- Spectral theory of nonselfadjoint operators, spectral operators, spectral subspaces, and eigenvectors of operators
- Applications to economics, finance and risk management, dynamic systems, physics, and other real world problems
