Gender-Specific Cytokine Pathways, Targets, and Biomarkers for the Switch from Health to Adenoma and Colorectal Cancer

Figure 6

The results of the stepwise multiple regression analysis (using the forward procedure) indicate that the serum level of IFNγ in men could be a significant independent factor for predicting a possible alteration in IL10 regulation of the balance between Th1 and Th2 cell types. The independent factors sIL2R and IL10 are important for predicting an alteration in the normal regulation that IFNγ exerts over the balance between Th1 and Th2 cell types. In women sIL2R and IL4 may prove useful as significant independent factors to predict alterations in the normal regulation that IL10 exerts over the balance between Th1 and Th2 cell types; likewise sIL6R and IFNγ may prove useful as significant independent factors to predict alterations in the normal regulation that IL6 exerts over the balance between Th1 and Th2 cell types.
