Protection against Autoimmune Diabetes by Silkworm-Produced GFP-Tagged CTB-Insulin Fusion Protein

Effect of fusion protein feeding on diabetes development. Five-week-old female NOD mice were fed CTB-INS (group 1, , black), CTB-Ins-GFP (group 2, , red), CTB-GFP (group 3, , green), or Saline (group 4, , blue) four times per week until 38 weeks of age. Diabetes was confirmed by hyperglycemia (>16.7 mM glucose) for 2 consecutive weeks. The ANOVA test revealed a significant reduction in T1D onset in groups 1 and 2 compared with groups 3 and 4 ( ). No significant difference was found between group 1 and group 2 ( ).
