The 19 kDa Mycobacterium tuberculosis Lipoprotein (LpqH) Induces Macrophage Apoptosis through Extrinsic and Intrinsic Pathways: A Role for the Mitochondrial Apoptosis-Inducing Factor

Figure 5

Engagement of mitochondrial factors in the caspase-dependent phase of the death cascade triggered by LpqH. (a) To know if LpqH induces transfer of cytochrome c from the mitochondria to the cytosol, we perform immunoblot of cytosolic fractions with an antibody to human cytochrome c after 24 h LpqH apoptosis. (b) To determine the mitochondrial membrane damage, we analyzed the mitochondrial membrane potential ( ) by flow cytometry with DiOC6 in cells induced to apoptosis for 24 h; 27.51% loss in DiOC6 staining is observed.
