Immune Modulation in Primary Vaccinia virus Zoonotic Human Infections

Interferon-gamma production in PBMCs of individuals infected or not by zoonotic Vaccinia virus. Peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) from patients infected or not with zoonotic Vaccinia virus were cultured in the presence of UV-inactivated virus or mock-treated (medium). After 6 days of stimulus, the amount of IFN-γ produced in the cultures’ supernatants was measured by cytometric bead array immunoassay. Statistical significance (𝑃 values), based on the median values of each group, is presented.
