TCV influenced the proliferation of CII-specific cells and levels of CII antibodies in CIA mice. The three groups of mice were sacrificed at the peak of the disease. Spleen MNCs were prepared and incubated (5 × 105 cells/well) in the absence and presence of heat-inactivated CII (20 μg/mL) for 48 h to 54 h. [3H]Thymidine was added during the last 18 h of culture. (a) The cpm values were obtained by liquid scintillation counter in the proliferation assay. (b) Heart blood was collected at the peak of disease and the serum was isolated by centrifuge. The levels of IgG, IgG1, and IgG2a were detected by indirect ELISA. Data are represented as means ± SD ( mice/group).
