Percentage of adult coral colonies that bleached at Tiahura (grey bars) and Viaphu (white bars), versus the duration of temperature anomalies (degree heating days) during four episodes of mass-bleaching in Moorea. Degree heating days were calculated for the summer period (September–March) in each year that mass-bleaching was documented (generally between February and April), based on 4 km Pathfinder (NOAA) data for Tiahura Reef with backfilling and smoothing functions to eliminate null values.
