(a) Conventional heating: the temperature on the outer surface of the reaction vessel is more than that of the reaction medium. (b) Microwave heating: the vessel wall is transparent to microwave energy so that the energy can be transferred kinetically, localized superheating which leads to absorption of microwave irradiation by the reactant mixture.
