Size-controlled Ag NP/chitin composites were evaluated for their antifungal (against A. niger) activities by incubating them with the fungi in PDA. When composites with various amounts of small (a), medium (b), and large (c) Ag NPs in 4 mg/mL chitin were added in PDA, the Ag NP/chitin composites exhibited antifungal activity in a concentration-dependent manner. The left figure is a representative picture for growth of A. niger on Ag NP/chitin composite-containing PDA. The right figure shows spore concentrations in the recovered suspension from the left plates on day 3. Data are mean value standard deviation; .
