Engineered Nanoparticles and Their Applications

Description

Nanoparticles engineered for shape, size, and surface properties impart special functionalities such as catalytic properties, improved strength, enhanced thermal and electrical conductivity, and controlled release of host molecules. It is now possible to manipulate colloidal interfaces to produce hydrophobic/hydrophilic surfaces, core-shell structures with controlled permeability, and to direct the assembly of colloids into thermoresponsive and pH-responsive gels. These advances have opened up applications in biomedicine, nanoenergetic materials, and structural nanocomposites.

We invite researchers to contribute original research papers as well as review articles that focus on the preparation of engineered functional nanoparticles and their applications.

Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Synthesis of organic and inorganic nanoparticles
  • Control of size, shape, structure, and morphology
  • Surface modifications for controlled aggregation and self-assembly
  • Bulk production, scale-up, commercialization, and market share

We welcome review articles on applications of nanoparticles especially in the following areas:

  • Biomedicine
  • Sensing
  • Controlled release
