Fabrication and Applications of Electrospun Nanofibers

Description

Nanofiber is an emerging, interdisciplinary area of research with important commercial applications and will, most assuredly, be a dominant technology in new-world economies. Electrospinning has been recognized as an efficient technique for the fabrication of polymer nanofibers and has received much attention.

Recently various modified electrospinning processes were proposed, among which the bubble electrospinning and needleless electrospinning are potential candidates for mass-production of materials including smooth nanofibers, crimped nanofibers, beaded fibers, nanoporous fibers, and nanoparticles, which have many practical applications in various fields, and nanoage is coming. This special issue becomes a new chapter for the nanoage.

Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Various modified electrospinning including needleless electrospinning
  • Bubble electrospinning and its modifications
  • Mathematical models for various electrospinning
  • Various applications of electrospun nanofibers
  • Other relevant topics
