Flavonoids and Cancer Prevention

Call for Papers

Flavonoids are water-soluble polyphenolic molecules, which are widely distributed in plants. They consist of 6 major subgroups: anthocyanins, chalcone, flavone, flavonol, flavanone, and isoflavonoids. Flavonoids are a member of phytochemicals family. These dietary agents are believed to suppress the transformation, hyperproliferation, and initiation of carcinogenesis. The combination of some herbs with certain foods and drugs may reduce or change the success of anticancer therapy or cause life-threatening side effects. For example, black cohosh may increase the effect of tamoxifen.

We invite investigators to contribute original research and review articles that explore the effects of flavonoids intake on cancer metabolism. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Intake of flavonoids and cancer risk
    • Effects of flavonoids on prevention or promotion of cancer
    • Flavonoids in cellular senescence, differentiation, and stem cell proliferation
  • Interaction of flavonoids with drugs during cancer treatment
    • Flavonoids-chemotherapeutic drug interactions
    • Impact of flavonoids intake on efficacy of cancer chemotherapy
  • Molecular targets for flavonoids
    • Gene interactions
    • Flavonoids and apoptosis
    • Effects on Caspases

Before submission authors should carefully read over the journal's Author Guidelines, which are located at http://www.hindawi.com/journals/jnume/guidelines/.
