Options to manipulate integrin function. Essential cellular functions, such as adhesion, migration, proliferation, and survival, which all are regulated by integrins, can pharmacologically be manipulated with a panoply of matrikines, antibodies, peptides, and small molecule inhibitors, many of which are used as therapeutic tools in combination with conventional chemo- or radiotherapy to attack tumor cells and vasculature.
