Ocular Angiogenesis

Description

We invite investigators to contribute original research articles as well as review articles that will stimulate the continuing efforts to understand the molecular biology and the development of new treatments for ocular angiogenesis. In this special issue we will bring novel research and discuss challenges in developing therapeutics for ocular neovascular diseases, angiogenesis and its role in ocular diseases, and the mechanisms leading to progressive vessel dysfunction and blindness.

We are particularly interested in articles describing clinical and experimental studies of ocular angiogenesis, advances in molecular biology, and new insights into retinal and corneal and choroidal neovascularizations using animal models and current concepts in the treatment of ocular angiogenesis.

Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • New treatments of ocular angiogenesis
  • Latest technologies for clinical evaluation and measuring outcomes
  • Role of inflammation in ocular angiogenesis
  • Role of extracellular matrix and cell surface molecules in ocular angiogenesis
  • Diabetic retinopathy neovascularization
  • Age-related macular degeneration and choroidal neovascularization
  • Mediators of ocular angiogenesis
  • Retinal neovascularization disease mechanisms
  • Choroidal neovascularization disease mechanisms
  • Corneal neovascularization disease mechanisms
  • Recent advances in ocular drug delivery
  • Novel imaging technologies
  • Role of neovascularization in retinopathy of prematurity
  • Gene therapy for ocular angiogenesis
  • Anti-VEGF therapy
  • Angiogenesis in vascular occlusive diseases
