In Vitro and In Vivo Antimalarial Activity Assays of Seeds from Balanites aegyptiaca: Compounds of the Extract Show Growth Inhibition and Activity against Plasmodial Aminopeptidase

Parasitemia of Plasmodium berghei-infected ANKA strain-infected BALB/c mice after treatment with 50  L of the aqueous Balanite extract (1,25 g/100 mL) in comparison to the PBS-buffer-treated control. Administration was performed intraperitoneally on days 3, 2, and 1 before infection, at the day of infection and on days 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8 after infection. Giemsa-stained smears were performed on days 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, and 15.
