OPLS-DA scores plot based on the 1H NMR metabolic profile of the liver. The experiments consisted of 12 male and 12 female mice. Eight male and 8 female mice were injected with P. berghei ANKA. On day 5, 4 infected males, 4 infected females, 2 control males, and 2 control females were sacrificed, and the liver is extracted with perchloric acid (early-stage of infection). Again on day 13 (late-stage infection). A/B, early- and late-stage infection males are compared with male controls; C/D, early- and late-stage infection females are compared with female controls.
