Detection of DNA fragmentation in apoptotic cells with monoclonal antibody to ssDNA. Cells were pretreated with 24-Epi or vehicle (Ctrl) for 3 h. Then, they were treated or not with MPP+ for 24 h. PC12 cells pretreated with vehicle and exposed to MPP+ for 24 h (MPP+) revealed a significant increase in DNA fragmentation compared to the control (vehicle). Pretreatment with 24-Epi and treatment with MPP+ (24-Epi + MPP+) significantly decreased DNA fragmentation compared to the MPP+ condition. The data are expressed as percentages of values in untreated control cells and are means ± S.E.M. . versus Ctrl and versus MPP+.
