Ion Channel-Target Toxicology

Description

This call for papers is in recognition of advances in our understanding of natural toxins over the last several decades. Neurotoxins secreted from diverse venomous species play critical roles in understanding the physiological contribution of ion channels to neuronal network and in probing and correlating ion channel structure and function. Hence, ion channel-targeting toxins have been validated as promising drug candidates or leading molecules for various neuronal syndromes cares.

This special issue is addressing the physiological function, significance in therapeutical probing, and localization of receptor sites of the natural toxins that target ion channels. Articles that summarize the distinct action patterns of different classes of neurotoxins on ion channels are also welcome. Main topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Genomics and proteomics of neurotoxins
  • Biochemical and functional determination of novel neurotoxins
  • Receptor sites of neurotoxins
  • Pharmacological and pathogenic integrative modulation of neurotoxins targeting on ion channels
  • Structure-functional study on ion channels probed by neurotoxins
  • Novel neurotoxins mimicking in neuronal plasticity
  • The insecticidal potential of neurotoxins targeting on ion channels
  • Drugs design and clinical assessments by neurotoxins as leading molecules
  • Therapeutic applications and future respects of neurotoxins (Review)

Before submission authors should carefully read over the journal's Author Guidelines, which are located at http://www.hindawi.com/journals/jt/guidelines/. Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscript through the journal Manuscript Tracking System at http://mts.hindawi.com/ according to the following timetable:
