Islets were isolated by first distending the pancreas with collagenase solution (1.95 mg/mL Type V). The tissue was then digested and separated into 2 equal portions. One portion was processed with BSA in the washes throughout the isolation process and the other without BSA in the washes. Several strains of mice were used and their age in weeks, sex and number of mice in each treatment group (n/group) are indicated. * P = 0.004. |
