Persistently Elevated Level of IL-8 in <i>Chlamydia trachomatis</i> Infected HeLa 229 Cells is Dependent on Intracellular Available Iron

<table>Gradual increase was detected in levels of IL-8 in culture supernatants, highest at 30 hpi; thereafter, subsequent decrease was observed from 48 hpi onwords in <i>C. trachomatis</i> infected cells treated with Mimosine. DFO treated cells showed delayed secretion (12 hpi) but consistently elevated levels were detected at all the time point taken.</table>
