Some left residues remained on the surface of the normal tooth. (b) Macroscopic signs of inflammation could be observed next to the second left molar of periodontal-diseased rats, after 11 days of ligation. Signs include redness, swelling, and destruction of the normal gingivomucosal tissue around the affected tooth (dark arrows), as well as a furcation lesion (white arrow). Original magnification: 15X.
