The influence of selected TCAs on 5-HT release from mast cells after stimulation of the cells with compound 48/80 (0.1 μg/mL). Mast cells were preincubated with different concentrations (10−8–10−4 mol/L) of antidepressants (amitriptyline, doxepin, imipramine, and clomipramine) for 10 min and then incubated with compound 48/80 for further 10 min. Results are expressed as a percentage of the total 5-HT in the sample. Each point represents mean ± SEM of 5 experiments. * versus compound 48/80.
