Effects of CM on (a) cell proliferation and (b) MMP activity in OA chondrocytes. (a) Cell proliferation was measured by the MTT method. Results are expressed as % MTT with respect to nonstimulated cells at 24 h. (b) MMP activity was measured by fluorometry in cell culture supernatants after 24 h or 5 days of incubation of chondrocytes in the presence or absence of IL-1𝛽 and CM. Activity is expressed as fluorescence units (FU) per mg of protein.
