Update on the Pathophysiological Activities of the Cardiac Molecule Cardiotrophin-1 in Obesity

<table>Activation of the Jak-Stat, MAP kinase signal transduction pathways, and AMPK, by CT-1 in cardiomyocytes. The mechanisms of Stat activation as well as a putative signaling cascade leading to NF<i>κ</i>B (nuclear factor-kappa B) activation are shown. Downstream target genes linking the Jak-Stat, MAP kinase signal transduction pathways, and AMPK to the induction of cardiomyocyte hypertrophy, antiapoptotic and metabolic effects of CT-1 remain to be elucidated.</table>
