ADMA blocks alcohol-stimulated increases in both CBF and PKA activity in bovine bronchial epithelial cells. (a) Cilia beat frequency (CBF) in primary bovine bronchial epithelium treated with 100 mM alcohol (EtOH). Pretreatment (30 min) with ADMA (100 μM) blocked 1 hr alcohol stimulation of CBF ( ) versus control media. This inhibition was comparable to that observed with the NOS blocker (L-NMMA; 10 μM).
