Minimally Modified LDL Upregulates Endothelin Type A Receptors in Rat Coronary Arterial Smooth Muscle Cells

Effect of a PKC inhibitor on the mmLDL induced increase in contractile function and mRNA levels of ETA receptor in the rat coronary artery. After the coronary artery rings were cultured for 24 h with mmLDL (10 μg/mL) in the presence of the PKC inhibitor staurosporine (0.1 μM), the concentration-contraction curves of the rings mediated by ETA receptor ((a) coronary arteries, from that number of animals) and the levels of the ETA receptor mRNA ((b) -6 coronary arteries, from that number of animals) were determined. Staurosporine inhibited the mmLDL-induced increase in ETA receptor contractile function and mRNA expression. The data are presented as the mean ± SEM. versus culture, , versus mmLDL.
