Paeonol (Pae) suppresses cigarette smoke- (CS-) induced increases in expression of inflammatory target proteins ((a), (b)) and oxidative stress-related proteins (c) in lung tissues samples from mice. (a) Intercellular adhesion molecule 1 (ICAM-1); (b) vascular cell adhesion molecule 1 (VCAM-1); (c) 4-hydroxynonenal (4-HNE) modified proteins (a biomarker of oxidative stress). Protein levels in the lung tissues were analyzed by Western blotting.
