Chronic Ethanol Feeding Modulates Inflammatory Mediators, Activation of Nuclear Factor-κB, and Responsiveness to Endotoxin in Murine Kupffer Cells and Circulating Leukocytes

NF-κB target gene expression in isolated Kupffer cells in response to TNF-α after ethanol feeding F4/80+ macrophages were isolated from livers of ethanol-, pair-fed mice, respectively, and stimulated with TNF-α (500 ng/mL) for 2 h and 24 h. Supernatants were measured for mRNA levels of IL-6 (a), TNF-α (b), NOS2 (c), CXCL-1 (d), and MMP-9 (e) by RT-PCR.
