Chitosan Oligosaccharides Attenuate Ocular Inflammation in Rats with Experimental Autoimmune Anterior Uveitis

Evaluation of the protein expression levels of inflammatory mediators at day 14 by western blot analysis. The protein levels of (a) TNF-α, (b) iNOS, (c) MCP-1, (d) RANTES, (e) fractalkine, and (f) ICAM-1 were significantly higher in the PBS-treated group compared with the normal rats. In the COS-treated groups, especially in the high-dose group, the levels of inflammatory mediators were significantly lower than in the PBS-treated group. The data are expressed as the mean ± SD ( compared with the PBS-treated group; # compared with the normal group; & compared with the low-dose group by Kruskal-Wallis test with post hoc Dunn test; for each group).
