Serotonin-Exacerbated DSS-Induced Colitis Is Associated with Increase in MMP-3 and MMP-9 Expression in the Mouse Colon

DAI scores of mice treated with 5-HT or/and DSS. DAI scores were analyzed in six groups of mice. The control group () and those receiving 1.0 mg/kg () or 2.0 mg/kg 5-HT () had low levels of DAI. The group treated with 1.0% DSS () had elevated DAI scores. Groups receiving 1.0% DSS plus 1.0 mg/kg 5-HT () and 2.5% DSS () had further increased DAI scores.
