Neuroendoscopy
Description
Endoscopy plays an important part in current minimally invasive neurosurgery. The concepts, indications, and standards of current neuroendoscopy were developed in the beginning of the 1990s by several groups of neurosurgeons. Several factors contributed to its success and acceptance, including technical development, influence of other disciplines, and adaptation to neurosurgical requirements. Nowadays the main goal of the development of new operative strategies is to minimize the approach and to introduce minimal invasive techniques in neurosurgery. Thereby neuroendoscopy plays an important role and is under debate.
We invite investigators to contribute original articles on research and development of endoscopic techniques in neurosurgery. This includes endoscopic procedures intracranial and spinal as well. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:
- Endoscopy in therapy of hydrocephalus
- Endoscopic assisted skull base surgery
- Endoscopic transsphenoidal approaches to skull base and sellar region
- Endoscopy in peripheral nerves
- Endoscopy in spinal surgery
- Development of new endoscopic devices and instruments
