Mathematical Applications to Reliability and Maintenance Problems in Engineering Systems
Description
Reliability and maintenance of engineering systems have always been the domain of engineers, but increasingly more and more mathematical or statistical modelers got involved. This was driven largely by the stochastic nature of engineering systems’ failures and the sophistic problems encountered in practice. However, reliability and maintenance do have an important impact on engineering systems’ performance and profitability.
The main focus of this special issue will be on the new mathematical applications to typical reliability and maintenance problems encountered in industry. This special issue welcomes some extended papers submitted to the 8thInternational Conference on Modeling in Industrial Maintenance andReliability (MIMAR) http://www.ima.org.uk/conferences/conferences_calendar/mimar8.cfm which will take place in Oxford, UK, from 13 to 15 July 2014, but is also open to anyone interested. The selection criterion is the quality of the paper and the process will follow a standard procedure of a peer review process. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:
- Multistate systems
- K-out-of-N systems
- Condition-based maintenance
- Prognostics and health management
- Inspections
- Repairable systems
- Replacement and overhaul
- Life cycle/performance analysis
- Quality control and maintenance
- Production planning and scheduling
- Safety, security, and risk
- Warranty analysis
- Maintenance contracts
Before submission authors should carefully read over the journal’s Author Guidelines, which are located at http://www.hindawi.com/journals/mpe/guidelines/. Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscript through the journal Manuscript Tracking System at http://mts.hindawi.com/submit/journals/mpe/marm/ according to the following timetable:
