The average size of PARP-1 positive nucleoli is reduced in MCI in CA2 and CA4. (a) The average diameter of H&E stained nucleoli in CA1-CA4 shows no significant differences among Control, MCI and AD groups. (b) The average diameter of the subset of nucleoli positive for PARP-1 staining is smaller in CA2 neurons in MCI compared to Control and AD, while PARP-1 positive CA4 nucleoli are smaller in MCI than Control and differences between MCI and AD do not reach significance.
