Mechanisms of Aerobic Exercise Upregulating the Expression of Hippocampal Synaptic Plasticity-Associated Proteins in Diabetic Rats

Hippocampal mTOR signaling pathway and its downstream targets in diabetic rats and the effects of aerobic exercise. Type 2 diabetes significantly inhibits the activation of hippocampal mTOR (a) and decreases the levels of mTOR (b) and raptor (c), leading to a decreased activation of p70s6k (e) and 4EBP2 (g). Aerobic exercise does not reverse the reduction in mTOR activity but increases mTOR concentration.
