Endometrial Cancer: Biomarkers, Pathways, and Targeted Therapies
Call for Papers
Endometrial carcinoma is the most common gynecologic malignancy in the United States and it is the fifth leading cause of cancer related death in women. Endometrioid adenocarcinoma subtype account for more than 80% of endometrial adenocarcinoma cases and tend to be present as low grade, early stage tumors with favorable outcomes. Meanwhile, serous, clear cell carcinoma and carcinosarcoma represent a minority (3-10%) of total endometrial cancer cases. They are usually high-grade tumors with deep myometrial invasion, lymphovascular invasion, and a more aggressive clinical course. Clinicopathologic factors such as tumor grade, stage, histologic subtypes, lymphovascular invasion, and depth of myometrial invasion are still considered as the most reliable prognostic parameters. However, validation of the prognostic value of a number of biomarkers in endometrial carcinoma is still needed to better monitor patient's responses and outcomes.
We invite investigators to contribute original research articles as well as review articles that could shed the lights on our understanding of the molecular finger printings of endometrial adenocarcinoma, that could explain the existence difference between disease outcomes of each histologic subtype and that could help in predicting the outcome of this cancer. Potential topics include but are not limited to:
- Recent genetic pathway in endometrial cancerogenesis
- Difference in gene expression between histologic subtypes endometrial cancer
- Novel prognostic biomarkers that can help in better patients' management
- Recent discoveries in potential targeted therapy in endometrial cancer
- Genetic predisposition to endometrial cancer
