Ultrasound Minor and Major Anomalies in the Second Trimester of Pregnancy and the Chromosomal Abnormalities (Ultrasound Markers)

Call for Papers

Currently—in the upcoming era of noninvasive procedures at the detection of fetal chromosome abnormalities—ultrasound examinations still play an important role in the prenatal diagnosis of intrauterine chromosome abnormalities, by drawing the attention to the suspect of possible abnormality. Besides the age of the mother, history of aneuploidy, and biochemical parameters, positive ultrasound findings—which could be major structural abnormalities or minor ultrasound markers— can be indication for chromosome analysis. The main focus of this special issue will be on the new and existing techniques of ultrasound screening during pregnancy. The special issue will become an international forum for researchers to summarize the most recent developments and ideas in the field of ultrasound diagnostics during pregnancy. The topics to be covered include, but are not limited to:

  • The role of ultrasound in the detection of chromosome abnormalities
  • Major and minor ultrasound signs
  • Pelvic angle and 21, 18, and 13 trisomies
  • Trisomies and prenatal ultrasound findings
  • Sex chromosome abnormalities and ultrasound
  • Special chromosome rearrangements and ultrasound
  • Fetopathology and ultrasound anomalies
  • Future strategies
