Honey Supplementation in Spontaneously Hypertensive Rats Elicits Antihypertensive Effect via Amelioration of Renal Oxidative Stress

Table 2

The mRNA expressions of CuZnSOD, MnSOD, and GPx in kidney of WKY control, honey-treated WKY, SHR control, and honey-treated SHR.

CuZnSOD1.00 ± 0.160.80 ± 0.100.19 ± 0.030.26 ± 0.07
MnSOD1.00 ± 0.061.27 ± 0.170.74 ± 0.101.46 ± 0.33
GPx1.00 ± 0.141.74 ± 0.160.53 ± 0.050.80 ± 0.10

Each group consisted of four to five rats. Data are expressed as mean ± SEM. CuZnSOD: copper-zinc superoxide dismutase; GPx: glutathione peroxidase. The quantitative fold change in mRNA expression was determined relative to the -actin mRNA levels in each corresponding group and calculated using the method.
