Effects of curcumin on depression. Administration of curcumin in rodent models of depression has been shown to ameliorate depressive-related behaviours, with decreased despair immobility, associated to increased levels of the neurotransmitters serotonin (5-HT), noradrenaline (NA), and dopamine (DA), and decreased activity of the enzyme monoamine oxidase (MOA).
