Enhanced LD formation upon hypoxia in mouse. C57BL/6 mice were exposed to room air (a) or hypoxia (10% O2, 5% N2) (b) for 3 weeks, and the lungs were harvested for further examination by TEM. The formation of LDs (white arrowhead) increased upon hypoxic exposure in the mouse lung epithelial cells. Perinuclear and cytosolic localization of LDs is shown (b). Approximately 50 images were captured from at least 3 individual mice of each group.
