PACAP counteracts the proinflammatory properties of AMV on bronchoalveolar macrophages. The levels of expression of Il-1α (a), TNF-α (b), Il-6 (c), MIP-1α (d), MIP-2 (e), and KC (f) are determined by quantitative PCR on mRNAs extracted from alveolar macrophages. The macrophages are isolated by bronchoalveolar lavages 4 hours after treatment of rats with vehicle aerosols only (Veh.), AMV aerosols (AMV; 5 mg/m³/h) followed or not by PACAP aerosols (AMV + P₃₈; 0.1 mM).
